Republican on Republican Violence: Country First?

"We're rock bottom," said Rep. Thaddeus G. McCotter, Michigan Republican and the incumbent policy committee chief. "We are now free to start thinking again, acting again, and doing the right thing by what our constituents and our country need."

In an unforeseen act of political cannibalism, the Republican Party, or certain members thereof, have thrown Sarah Palin under the proverbial bus and revealed purported facts about her which stimulate many questions regarding the internal workings and thinking of the Republican Party at large, and what price they are willing to pay for the Presidency of the United States.

This, coupled with the statement above from Re. Thaddeus McCotter, the incumbent policy chief of the Republican Committee, are sending Liberal and Democratic Party members into a political nirvana of glee and gloat. (These events should not be something over which we should gloat and have glee, though sorely tempted.)

The purported facts that Governor Palin did not know if Africa was a continent or a country, nor did she know the members of the NAFTA agreement alone should cause us all to stop and wonder about the sanity of those who elicited and selected Sarah Palin as the Republican Vice Presidential Candidate.

Even more importantly, if the Republican Party knew of her ignorance, as sources have admitted they did, and still presented her to this nation as a viable candidate for the Vice Presidency and be willing to place her "a heart beat away from the Presidency," we then move beyond the realm of questioning their sanity into the realm of questioning their legitimacy as a viable political party in total.

Rep. McCotter seems to echo these sentiments in his statement to the press today.

What exactly did he mean when he said that Republicans could now start "thinking again...?" and doing what is best for their constituents and what is best for their country?

I thought the Republican campaign's theme for the presidency this year was:

"Country First....."

Who or what was it that kept them from "thinking...and doing what is right..." and what were they doing instead of thinking and doing what is right all this time?

Republican on Republican Violence

The feeding frenzy that has ensued after this historic election is truly amazing in that it is a feeding frenzy of Republican on Republican.

Fox News is the source of all of the latest dirt on Sarah Palin from "anonymous" Republican sources.

The question is: Why? Why are they throwing Governor Palin under the bus? I really need an answer and I think the American nation deserves an answer as well.

Why do we need an answer?

The answer to this question will reveal to all of us the true nature of the masterminds running the Republican Party these days.

What would make the Republicans walk "gut-step" towards certain destruction being knowing and willful in such utter deception?

Those questions need to be answered and not swept under the carpet or attributed to "a tough campaign..." as if a tough campaign would necessarily include lies and deception and that would be ok.....it is not.

Throw the "Wasilla Hillbilly" Under the Bus! (New Republican Strategy?)

Probably the most telling statement released by Republican sources about Governor Palin is the characterization of Palin by her own party as the 'Wasilla Hillbilly."

The sheer slash and burn mentality being revealed by that statement should give everyone, especially evangelicals, the true estimation of the evangelicals by the movers and shakers in the Republican Party: they are a "necessary evil" in the leadership's minds to garner votes and more importantly totally expendable upon ascent to office or the loss thereof. It has happened before.

Why are evangelicals surprised?

It really is a case of reaping what they sew: evangelicals have long manipulated members of their own ranks for political purposes, descending into the ugly culture wars mentality so characteristic of the evangelical movement.

If you manipulate people for your own ends be sure you will be manipulated, only on a grander scale.

Get it?

These events should lead us to a sober assessment of the Republican/Conservative movement as a whole. They should also serve as a warning to those of us who are in a different political camp----because the same fate could befall any of us.

The questions still remain: Rep. McCotter's words should shake us and make us ask many more questions for future reference.

What were they thinking? What are they thinking now?

Republicans must remember the old adage:

"You are what you eat...."

Bush Administration: Mercifully, the End Is Near For His Lies And Deception

It is becoming more apparent to everyone in the United States that the politics of fear and intimidation and imperialism conducted by the Bush Administration may be coming to a merciful end.

Beyond dispute is the "manufacture of madness" which has been the quintessential characteristic of the Bush Administration, on many levels, not the least of which is the unlawful and immoral invasion of Iraq.

How the people of the Middle East will ever be able to forgive us is beyond me. The death and destruction conducted on the basis of many lies regarding, WMD's, Al Qaeda is unfathomable to many of us in the United States.

My only hope is that we are able to elect Barack Obama and begin to repair in some way what remains of the lives we have allowed to be destroyed.

It is no small issue that the Governor of Alaska has to her credit the assistance of the government of the Sudan in the genocide in Darfur. Twenty two million dollars of the Alaska Permanent Fund remain invested there despite an outcry among legislators both Republican and Democrat in the state of Alaska.

In my opinion, Governor Palin should face charges of the participation in crimes against humanity for her refusal to divest these funds from the Sudan.

Her arrogance is only superseded by her malevolence on this issue---she didn't want to risk the financial security of the people of Alaska by divesting these funds yet provided no basis for making such an absurd and morally negligent statement.

The world needs to know that there are many here in the United States that see things very differently than George Bush, Dick Cheney, John McCain and Sarah Palin.

Words will not mollify nor ameliorate the suffering and death that has been caused by the policies of these people, however, maybe, very soon, America will be given the opportunity to at least reflect in its foreign policy humanity, instead of the vices of the rapacious wolves who now run and want to continue to run our country.

I think about these things every day. I cannot escape them.
