Meenakshi,

Ruvy- did you get to see my mom's photo on the cover of Yediot 2 weeks back along with Rona Ramon?

Please send me a link if you can. I never buy the newspaper, I only look at it on-line, and rarely at that. They spend too much of their column ink and virtual pages condemning people like me for me to give them even two shekels (the price of the paper near the Central Bus Station in J-lem).

But I'd be happy to see a photo of your mother if I could....

Sone things go beyond politics.

Kavita- a heart-felt celebration in the form of an article. I am in agreement with Ruvy though- he has certainly landed in one of the messiest times in US history.

Hi all,
thanks very much. Ledzius, I think Ruvy answered your comment. We still talk because of the implications of this election. And Guido, I think for me the most " substantial" thing right now is that we have a man of substance at the helm and the purpose of this blog was to note that and also to share my personal journey where Obama is concerned.

The news media is filled with a lot of presumptuous comments on the so called "substantial issues" and not so substantial issues related to Obama, even since he decided to run for President. Living in a Republican state I see people still divided by personal prejudices,at a substantial level.
I think the discussion of other issues,be it the economy, the war in Iraq, healthcare etc must be reserved until he is sworn in and his administration starts dealing with a very difficult time in American history. And hopefully you and I and many others will not only address "substantial" issues but offer solutions in a supportive way. Maybe its time to unite and clean the mess that many united to make in the first place by choosing Bush for a second term. SS and Shirley, thank you. I think we all need a dose of positivism! And I look forward to that. I think I addressed " Substantial" enough! Just kidding!
Thanks for all your thoughts-always make me think.

Lovely 1,383 word essay about the new president and not one single substantial issue addressed. Sounds familiar.

"I hope that for once America hears the voice of their new President and stands behind him and becomes his strength, so he can become ours."

Yes. Let's provide the same unified support given his predecessor.

Ciao, Guido

Well Kavita, the Americans chose the fellow you wanted and chose the fellow I wanted. But he won't spread the wealth, that's for sure. There is none to spread. He'll be stuck (assuming he is inaugurated) spreadig the pain.

The bill for sixty years of financial mismanagement, corporate and labot union irresponsibility and basic lack of sense in overspending the dollar and imprudence is coming due, and no American leader will be able to withstand the cataclysm of economic disaster headed the way of the United States.

The kindest thing one can say is, "G-d save America."

Yawn.. the elections are over and Obama has already won. For how long are we supposed to keep dwelling on his speeches?

And what's all this Kleenex stuff over a politician? Jeez, the Americans are one corny bunch.

I cannot believe that many Indians who went to the US recently are buying into this crap.

Did they shed a single tear of joy when Laloo/Mayawati/Kalam made speeches? I guess not!
